Will this resume get me an entry level internship at an insurance agency? I’m very disappoiinted about what has just happened to me. I’m a 10 year veteran Java J2EE Software Engineer – Architect and this IT staffing agency just screwed me over bigtime man.
They contacted me with an interview so I took the interview and nailed it. I got the job offer from thier largest client and got the offer letter, relocation packet and everything. Passed the backgound check, drug check and online exams. I asked them several times PLEASE MAKE SURE THIS IS A DONE DEAL BEFORE I GIVE MY NOTICE AT MY JOB.
I can’t stress to you enough how many times I told them to check, double check and triple check that because there are not many jobs of my field in this area. They called me and assured me I could put in my notice so I did and so did my fiance. This past weeked we made a 14hr road trip to this city we are moving to looking for housing.
We stayed there 2 days incurring all kinds of expenses and put down a $1475 deposit on a rental home. I get a call on yesterday and they tell me that the job offer has been retracted!
What!!!! I asked why and they would not even tell me why. In the meantime myself and my fiance are out of jobs (can’t go back), spent all this money getting ready to move and have to move because since I am the breadwinner and there are no other Java Software Engineering jobs in this small city.
They won’t return my calls or respond to my emails. I asked to speak with upper management and guess what they said?
Yep you guessed it. I AM THE MANAGER SO YOU HAVE TO TALK TO ME. I have a hardcopy of a job offer and a relocation packet. I don’t want to sue this company but they have ruined my current situation with no friggin explanation whatsoever. We are not in a financial situation where we can make it through 30 days of both of us being unemployed.
What should I do? IT Staffing company just screwed me over bigtime!? I’m 35 and in my entire adult life I’ve only work a total of 18 months. From 20 to 25, I was a housewife From 25 to 30, I went to college From 30 to 32, I got a masters in English Lit. From 32 to 33, I worked as a receptionist From 33 to 33, I worked at a gov’t job that I hated Then my mother died; I sank into a deep depression and quit my job.
Now I’m feeling better and want to work again, but I can’t find a job, not even as a receptionist A woman at a staffing agency asked me why I didn’t work during college and I told her that I didn’t want to (my husband makes enough money). She told me this is why I’m having trouble finding work.
I didn’t realize that was going to have such a detrimental effect. If I had it to do over again, I would have gotten internships in the summer. It’s all over for me now.
I thought going to college would make me happy and help me in life. I should have used my time learning Microsoft Office software and practicing my typing.
I’ve ruined my life? Can anyone recommend a site for locating a job search agent or a site which is geared toward professional non-profit staffing. I am a professional with experience tutoring mathematics and applied mathematics in physical science. I also have an associate’s degree in computer information systems.

I am most comfortable in higher education environments, but I can work in any information sector position. I have experience writing stand-alone software as well as Internet applications.
I am open to learning new technologies. I have already been searching www. monster.
com and www. indeed. com on a regular basis, but both of these sites are geared toward high salary job seekers.
I am seeking employment in a job which salaries from 15K-30K. I would rather have job security than salary. r u good in finance to help me out here?? I’m in school working on a BS in applied math and BS physics, but I’m looking to get a programming job while still in school. I’m good with C++ and Java, but I’m looking for a direction to go next to help land a job. I’ve had a good deal of university programming coursework and I enjoy doing it. From looking around it seems that web programming is more of an entrance as opposed to full-blown software engineering, stressing things like XML, J2EE, and Servlets (please correct me if I’m wrong).
Right now I’m learning SQL and integrating it into OOP code. I’m using Dice.
com, but many of the positions are posted by staffing agencies as opposed to tech companies, and it’s hard to establish a dialogue with them. Are there any kinds of positions or organizations I should look out for?
Would official certifications help? Most importantly, what should I concentrate on learning next that I can fairly easily learn on my own?
Programming Job Question? I run a promotions agency which places staff around the country. I need software that enables me to record the bookings from clients and then schedule any activities that need to be undertaken. It must be part of a relational database so clients & staff can have profiles.
If it is possible I also want the software to help simplify the production of invoices as well as gross payrole for the staff. I have no idea where to start looking.
Obviously cost is a big factor as I am a very small company. I need to control, monitor and automate as much of the business as possible.
If you have any suggestions I would be most interested in hearing them.
